Dalgarno Gardens Estate mural completed

From conception to reality!

This week saw ongoing social distancing and the hottest day of the year so far, and the completion of a new mural for the newly refurbished children’s play area in the Dalgarno Gardens Estate in North Kensington.

The new permanent artwork was designed by young artist and regular KCAW collaborator, Tor Ewen. The mural was completed this week by Tor and her assistant Amy, with the support of a team from the local residents’ association. Abiding to social distancing regulations and in defiance of unpredictable weather, the artists and residents, Mike Jones especially, worked tirelessly together complete the two large murals by the estate’s playground.

Tor’s design was inspired by photographs and drawings by the children and young people who live in the estate. Their artworks included a spectacled caiman, drawings of children, and a lovely photo of young footballers.

Responding to the design of the new playground and by the work of the residents, Tor’s design combines familiar themes, horizons and nature, providing a fantasy backdrop to the play area.

We are delighted to be able to support the Tenants Association and the local residents to create a stunning addition to the children’s playground, to be enjoyed by the local residents for years to come.
