KCAW MURAL #5
KCAW is proud to collaborate with the Royal College of Art, London Projects and Studio Indigo to create the fifth Love
Kensington + Chelsea mural located on a hoarding on Lansdowne Road in Notting Hill.
Love Kensington + Chelsea Street Art project is an ongoing public art initiative that celebrates the histories of the borough with murals on construction hoardings by local artists, chosen by public vote. The project creates temporary landmarks to identify the area geographically for residents, businesses and visitors; to increase a sense of civic pride; to strengthen connection across the community; and to celebrate the vibrancy and creativity of the borough.
For the fifth mural, shortlisted artists have created three unique designs inspired by their research of local history, and engagement with the practice of Studio Indigo, the architects behind the building‘s restoration and renovation. The three designs are equally inspired by Studio Indigo‘s designs, guided by Vaastu, the traditional Indian system of architecture and design; and by the history, culture and customs of the local area.
On this occasion, the three designs received over 1200 votes, and the winning proposal chosen by the public is: TOGETHER AS ONE BY ADALBERTO LONARDI. It will be painted on site by the artist in late January 2021.
